You can understand exactly why you do something and still not be able to change it. Knowing what you 'should' do, and understanding why you don't, is a helpful beginning that on its own rarely changes much. The patterns that run deepest take shape in our bodies and nervous systems, in the parts of us that formed long before words. So that's where we work together, at a pace your system can trust.

My approach

I use Internal Family Systems alongside somatic approaches. Underneath all the thinking, the body carries its own intelligence, and it's from there that real change becomes possible.

This work doesn't have to feel heavy all the time. Part of what we're building is the capacity to feel more alive, curious, and light in your body.

Quiet the mind, listen to the body

Together, we'll meet different parts of you by listening to what's happening in your body. Sometimes the way in is breath or movement. Sometimes it's stillness.

Emotions demand to be felt

Emotion that never gets felt remains stored in the body, waiting. Without forcing anything, we make room for it to move and finish.

Nothing about you needs fixing

Everything you've learned once served a purpose. Together we'll understand how it's been working to keep you safe, and slowly offer your system new options.

How we'll work together

It moves in stages, and it's slow on purpose.

1

Building safety

Trust is earned through the safety built between us, and the sense of safety inside your own body. Before we go anywhere deep, we go slow, so you can feel what it's like to pause, to say "not that," to change your mind, and to see that it's honored every time. My role is to stay curious alongside you, not to lead you somewhere you're not ready to go.

2

Mapping the terrain

Getting to know your inner landscape: the parts of you, the patterns and beliefs, the relational systems that grew inside. As we map, you'll start to notice your own signals, the cues your body sends, what different parts are asking for.

3

Going deeper

Using sensation and memory as the way in, we'll meet specific parts with care. This is an opportunity to ease emotions that may have been held for a long time, and to question old beliefs we're ready to outgrow.

4

New patterns, in the world

As you come to trust what your body and your younger parts are telling you, you can start to move and choose differently, in your relationships, your work, your life. Embodied change, over time.

Who I work with

Transition
People in or approaching change: identity, relationships, work, loss.
Over-giving
People feeling depleted from holding everything together for everyone else.
Pattern-breaking
People stuck in relational patterns they can name but can't change.
Depth
People who sense the body is holding something talk therapy hasn't reached.
Intuition
People who want to trust their own instincts, and their body's signals, again.

About Steph

Student therapist under supervision

My work focuses on building harmony between mind and body, needs and wants, self and community. I believe that when the thinking mind quiets, the body, the heart, and the younger parts of us have a great deal of wisdom waiting to be heard. Listening to these parts of us is where we'll begin.

I work with adults navigating transitions, trauma, and the patterns that formed to protect them. My practice is depth-oriented, and much of my work is helping people explore what they've been carrying, and slowly set it down.

I came to therapy through the body. Before training in psychotherapy I spent years as a movement facilitator and somatic practitioner, using movement as a pathway to mindfulness. I also work as a movement artist, where storytelling is expressed through form. In these practices, we don't simply have a relationship with our bodies. We are our bodies.

I'm warm, curious, and inclined to find the good in every person and their story. I bring a non-pathologizing lens from IFS and somatic practice: a belief that everything in you, including the patterns that get in your way, took shape for a reason.

The Lighthouse

The Lighthouse is a group container I co-facilitate for collective work around the metacrisis. It's a space to sit with the overlapping crises of our time, climate, economy, and the systems around us, alongside other people rather than alone.
